The Rolf Glass Team
Rolf Poeting Founder and President A native of Germany, Rolf Poeting came to America almost thirty years ago to expand his family's glass machinery business in the United States. The decline of the U.S. glass manufacturing industry, however, made sales very difficult. With a degree in business management, three generations of knowledge in the glass industry and a new found spirit of American entrepreneurism, Rolf created opportunity by taking a risk and establishing his own glassworks company. His vision created accessible and interesting glassware in America when most of the industry was pushing a majority of their production overseas. Rolf's laidback attitude and quirky sense of humor are reflected in each Rolf Glass design, from Palm Trees to the wildly popular School of Fish. Paula Sansone-Johnson Director of Design Born to an Air Force family, Paula M. Sansone-Johnson had an eclectic youth traveling around the world, yet she knew at a very young age she wanted to be an artist. Her fascination with glass came with her first job at a small glass manufacturer after graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After 18 years as a graphic designer in the publishing industry and her graduation from Seton Hill University, Paula returned to the glass industry when she took a job as an industrial designer in new product development for St. George Crystal. Joining Rolf Glass in 2005 as an in-house glass designer, Paula's philosophy of art integrates her love of traveling and icons of the past, and her flair for the modern. In her time at Rolf Glass, she has designed giftware items for retailers such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Neiman Marcus, Fallingwater, Luminarc, Libbey, Anchor Hocking, Wine Enthusiast and Frontgate Catalog.
